The core goal of MSRP is to inspire talented undergraduate students to pursue graduate studies at MIT by exposing them to advanced research, mentorship, and world-class facilities. In addition to academic work, students will enjoy social events, tours, and local trips, including visits around the Boston area.
This program is open to both U.S. citizens and eligible international students. There is no application fee.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the MIT Summer Research Program 2026, applicants must:
Academic Requirements

Hold a minimum GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale)
-
Be enrolled full-time in a degree-granting institution within the U.S. or its territories (excluding MIT)
-
Be a sophomore, junior, or non-graduating senior
-
Must not graduate before December 2026
-
Have a strong interest in pursuing graduate studies at MIT
